With a view to make available such facilities to the Mentally Retarded Children, this school was started in 1976 and all the activities are done in a newly built building with beautiful ambience most suitable to M. R. Children. This school has been started keeping in view the need to provide medical facility, social welfare, education, vocational guidance, treatment, rehabilitation, legal protection and to enable parents of M. R. Children to tackle various problems. This is a special school where M. R. Children come by Rickshaws and buses from Bhavnagar city and surrounding area. The school imparts special training in Behavioral Modification, Group activities, parent counseling, speech and language development, physiotherapy, special education and vocational training. Under the able guidance of expert doctors a Genetic Counseling Center is functioning so as to guide the expectant parents to avoid disability due to genetic disorder. A branch of the National Trust is also functioning to give information about special provisions made in the Act for the welfare of the disabled. |
