1)  Of total population of the country 10% are disabled (WHO).

2)  Of the total world population of the disabled, 60% are in India.

3)  The number of disabled is added in lacs every year.

4)  More than 75% population Of the disabled live in rural area where basic amenities are not available.

5)  Due to indifference for giving special education to the disabled, only 1% of the disabled people get an opportunity for education and training, and the girls' participation is minimal.

6)  As per the World Health Organization's report, 70% of the disabled can be treated and cured through treatment, surgery and Aids and appliances but there is absence of necessary infrastructure.

7)  The country would require 3,65,000 experts and teachers in the coming 5 years in the field of disability as against there are less than 30,000 experts and teachers.
