Late Shri Shamjibhai Parekh, associated himself for building up of the Deaf & Dumb Institute in 1970. After knowing the pathetic conditions of the disabled people, he dedicated his entire life for their welfare till he breathed his last. As a result of his foresightedness, guidance and scientific approach, Society for the Polio Stricken namely the P.N.R. Society was established in 1987. Under his able leadership, a good number of workers have been trained and at his instance, co-operation of a good number of philanthropists and the Impact Foundation-U .K., was made available to the P.N.R. Society, Shri Shamjibhai passed away on the 31st July 1997 at the age of 91.
